EVENT: Baybayin in Hawaii

Baybayin Hawaii
Kamusta mga kaibigan!
It’s been a while since I’ve written to everyone. This summer has been pretty busy with a few events and filming of my documentary, Sulat ng Malansang Isda. Next month, I’ll be going to Hawaii to teach Baybayin for the first time! To make this event as awesome as can be, we’re raising some funds. Rewards for this campaign are exclusive Puso (heart) hats and shirts. My colleague, Ray Hagusan, has provided his hand-made Pangalapang necklaces. Events recap

Here are some events I took part of the past couple months.

May 16 – Asian Heritage Street Festival @ SF
May 23 – Secret Garden of Eden @ SF
May 30 – Kularts Art Fair @ SF
June 6 – Pista sa Ngyon @ Vallejo
June 21 – Sangdiwa @ SF
June 27 – Kalayaan @ SF

Over the past 2 years, I’ve been slowing down doing Filipino events due to the following:

– Lack of quality of the Filipino festivals
– Increased cost of booths at festivals
– Less attendance
– A change in consumer behavior
– Less interest possibly due to our efforts of getting knowledge of Baybayin to the public has been working

So what’s this mean? It means that I’ve got to change things up by either changing my products or targeting non-Filipinos. It also means that next year, I’ll be focusing on my online school, documentary and producing events. The next one will be on November 14, 2015 at Fort Mason. See unKonference.org for more information.
