FilAm ARTS traces its roots to the production of the Annual Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture (FPAC) first conceptualized in 1990 as part of the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department’s Festivals Program, an arts program designed to address the multicultural constituency of the city.
Organized by about 100 artists and community leaders, the first FPAC took place at Los Angeles City College on Mother’s Day, May 14, 1992, where 3,000 participants braved the aftermath of the L.A. riots that occurred the week before. Since then, FPAC has only grown stronger and bigger, moving to Cabrillo Beach in 1994, then finally to its current location, Pt. Fermin Park, in the historic district of San Pedro in 2001.

Updates: Free consulting, Baybayin book, Prints, LA, Gallery
Been pretty busy for the last 3 months getting the 1st of my planned Baybayin books ready. I have a few project updates coming this this month….
FREE Consulting via Yahoo Messenger
I’ve setup a Yahoo Messenger account to answer any questions you have about Baybayin. Add BaybayinSchool on YM.
An Introduction to Baybayin
I just received a production copy of my Baybayin manual today. I’ll look it over to make sure my spelling and grammar isn’t too bad 🙂 I plan make it available for ordering online this week. A digital version will also be available. Check out the video below.
New prints
I haven’t really displayed my prints on this site. They are mostly for sale at my events. Anyway, I’ll have a couple more this month as part of my “Baybayin Sand Series”.
Los Angeles
I’m planning to make it down south for the 1st time to promote my artwork at a couple Filipino festivals in September and October. Follow me on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates.
Gallery
I finally put up a gallery of my artwork. It’s a bit disorganized but should suffice for now.

Date: Sunday June 28th, 2009
Title : “Barongs of Our Fathers”
Honoring our Great Filipino Fathers
Extended celebration of Father’s Day
The milestone of the event will be an exhibition of displays created by Filipino Families in the Vallejo Community. The event will also include stations for sponsors and vendors. The evening will conclude with performances by local Filipino performers. As for the desired outcome of this event, I would like to foster a sense of unity and compassion within the families and overall community.
Proceeds will go directly to the Bayanihan Clinic located in Sacramento, CA. This Clinic is a UC Davis student based clinic that provides culturally and linguistically sensitive primary care to the underserved Filipino population, particularly Filipino World War II Veterans who were stripped of their benefits by FDR. Since more of them, sadly, are dying, they have expanded their mission to include recent immigrants and the general uninsured population. For more information, please visit Bayanihanclinic.org.
