EVENT: Ka logo hat launching 10/8

My Ka logo hat collaboration with Wipcaps will be launching 10/8 8PM @ Urban Athletics Level 2 Greenbelt 3. Why 8PM, it’s a party…

On top of the crazy party, we have one more treat for you in form of a special drop. As part of the WIP Caps HeadStart series, Urban Athletics will get a HeadStart on the ‘Ka’ release!

Starting this Saturday and for the next 2 weeks, the Christian Cabuay x WIP Caps ‘Ka’ collab will ONLY be available at Urban Athletics before it will be available elsewhere. You too should get a HeadStart and cop the ‘Ka’ cap at Urban Athletics!

Buy the hat? Send me a photo of you wearing it at with the subject Ka Wipcaps and I’ll draw you your initials (1st and last name) in Baybayin and send it via email. Limited to 1st 50

Starting this Saturday October 8, WIP will be stocked at Urban Athletics (or uA for short). There are two good reasons why you should make it down to uA this Saturday.

First-up, uA will be kicking-off their in-store party series called Pulse Saturdays. For the first edition of Pulse Saturdays, they are featuring the KINGS ON DECK mixtape by DJ Scratchmark and our boy and WIP flag bearer MC Dash. Some special live performances and lots more cooked-up. So be sure to check it out!

Fundraising for the Filipino American Book Festival

I’ve been invited to head a Baybayin talk/workshop at the very 1st Filipino American Book Festival this coming October 1 & 2 at the San Francisco main library. I’m excited about this opportunity because this is my exact target market. So why the fundraising?

I decided to take my presence at this event a step further by getting a booth. These will mostly be occupied by book publishing companies and independent book stores rather than artists because of the cost. However, this is a great opportunity to promote Baybayin. To help defray the cost of the booth, I’ve partnered with Ray Haguisan where he will be displaying his Baybayin wood pendants. Even split 2 ways, it’s a pretty expensive investment. We will be lucky to break even.

This is where YOU can help and at the same time, get some rewards! One of the biggest questions I get is “How do we get your stuff if we can’t make it to your events?”

Basically, we are trying to raise $500 and if we do, you get your item. If we don’t make the $500, you don’t get charged ANYTHING and the project is cancelled. Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands.

Here are the available rewards
$5 – Name (your choice) card

$10 – Name (your choice) on canvas

$20 – Signed “An Introduction to Baybayin” book

$30 – Custom burned bamboo pendent necklace (approximately 5/8″ width, 1/4″ thickness, 1″ – 1 1/2″ length.) + canvas of a name of your choice

Pistahan recap – Live Art, Jose Rizal, Baybayin School and toys!

Once again, Malaya Designs and promoted Baybayin for 2 days during the Pistahan festival in San Francisco.

Great weekend for us and the Filipino community. We held the 1st Filipino themed custom toy show in the US (I believe), did multimedia presentations on Jose Rizal’s Baybayin hardwriting, Baybayin School module presentation, Ray was burning bamboo live, painting, scribbling and good ‘ole conversations.

Also as usual, FREE “translations” galore
